A Glance under Modena’s Hood

The year 2002 was certainly one for the books. While Spider-Man swung into the box office, this Azzurro-hued Ferrari 360 Modena swung off the production line at Ferrari of Beverly Hills. Bursting forth in a blaze of Italian style and flair, this machine bore the torch of the Modena legacy, effortlessly blending power with grace.

Oh, and did we mention it has a 3.6-liter V8 and a six-speed manual transaxle? Those two elements alone would make any vintage vehicle enthusiast salivate – provided they can still produce saliva after the surprise of seeing a Kenwood stereo in a Ferrari.

Before we dive into the road test that’ll make your mind spin (not literally, we promise), let’s take a moment to appreciate my sponsor, Global Self Storage in East Hampton, CT. As many are aware, storing vintage vehicles is quite similar to a game of Tetris – but instead of L-shaped blocks, you’re working with vintage Mustangs. Be assured that Global Self Storage can handle every inch of your vehicle storage needs. Reach out to them at 888.851.5605 or email hello@globalselfstoragellc.com if that 1966 GTO is giving your wife palpitations. Now, let’s rev back to that Modena…

2002 Ferrari 360 Modena

Breaking Down the Modena Trove

Yes, that’s quite enough merriment for now – so let’s get back to the Modena. It has all the usual trimmings; xenon lights, a Challenge-style grille and the quad exhaust outlets. Though the side mirror wears a blemish, it mirrors the year 2002 in showing a few well-earned scars.

The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires cushion the 18″ rims whilst black-finished Ferrari-branded calipers embrace the rotors. Talk about a love-hate relationship. The interior speaks volumes with beige power-adjustable seats, blue dashboard and a gated shifter. Alumni pedal, a feature that does nothing for speed but much for aesthetics, is worth witnessing.

Odometer & Other Oddments

The Tipo F131 V8 engine, with its flat-plane crankshaft and five-valve per cylinder construction, plays a pseudo-orchestral 395 horsepower melody. And with 53k miles logged, we can safely say that this speedster has lived – but not without a trace; the handbrake lever boot and driver’s seat wear their age like badges of honor.

In summary, this Modena could be your (thoroughly old-school and expensively fun) time machine back to 2002. Just don’t forget to pack a sense of humor and a set of spare Hankook tires.
